UP: Former Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi appeared in the MP-MLA Special Court on Friday under special security in the case of objectionable comment against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Special Judicial Magistrate Shubham Verma recorded Rahul’s statement in connection with the case. Rahul said in the court that I am innocent, I have not made any such statement, a political conspiracy has been hatched against him. The plaintiff’s advocate will present evidence on the next date. The next date will be heard on August 12. After the court proceedings, Rahul went back in a special vehicle.
BJP leader Vijay Mishra, a resident of Hanumanganj of Kotwali Dehat police station area, through lawyer Santosh Pandey, filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi on August 4, 2018, on the charge of making indecent remarks on Home Minister Amit Shah. In which, after the demand, the court granted bail to Rahul on February 20.
During the court proceedings, local Congress workers, advocates KP Shukla, Ranjit Singh Trisundi and many other lawyers were present. On receiving the information about Rahul Gandhi’s arrival, the CRPF, LIU and district police were on alert. The second gate of the court was closed. A huge crowd of media personnel was also present in the court premises.
