Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, saying that he fought for the betterment of Tamil people, social justice and rights of backward classes throughout his life. On the occasion of Karunanidhi’s birth anniversary, he was remembered across the country and various political leaders praised his contribution.
The birth anniversary of late former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was celebrated on Wednesday. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tribute to him. Both the leaders remembered his political and social contributions by posting on the social media platform ‘X’.
Rahul Gandhi in his message said that M. Karunanidhi was not only a Chief Minister, but also a writer, poet and thinker. He said Karunanidhi always believed in a Constitution that treated every Indian equally. Rahul Gandhi also said that his entire life was dedicated to the fight for social justice, equality and the rights of backward classes.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute to Karunanidhi in a post. In his message, he addressed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Tagging Stalin, he wrote that M. Karunanidhi remained committed throughout his life to social justice, equality, rational thinking and democratic values. His works brought positive changes in the lives of large sections of the society.
Karunanidhi is known in Tamil Nadu politics as a strong-minded leader who deeply influenced the state’s politics for decades. He was a prominent leader of the DMK party and served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu several times. During his tenure many policies were implemented for social reforms and welfare of backward classes.
Various programs were also organized in Tamil Nadu on the occasion of his birth anniversary, where party workers and supporters paid tribute to him. Discussion programs on social justice and their contribution were also held at many places.
Political analysts believe that Karunanidhi gave a new direction to Tamil politics and provided a strong base to the politics of social justice. His ideas and policies are still considered influential in the politics of the state.
