PWD restored 225 roads of the state

Shimla. PWD has reconnected 225 roads buried in snowfall to traffic. Maximum number of roads have been restored in Rampur Circle. Now people here are able to use vehicles again. In the last 48 hours, the department has so far restored 566 roads. Of these, 341 roads were cleared of snow on Friday, while snow was removed from 225 roads on Saturday and traffic was resumed. Now 387 roads are closed in the state.

Considering the weather conditions, the department has set a target of restoring 50 more roads in the next 24 hours. The department has estimated the loss due to snowfall so far at Rs 20 crore 25 lakh. Of these, 50 percent loss i.e. Rs 10 crore 25 lakh has occurred in Dalhousie Circle alone.

Apart from this, two crore each in Kullu and Mandi, one crore 88 lakh in Rampur, one crore 45 lakh in Shimla, 98 lakh 20 thousand in Rohru, 54 lakh 25 thousand in Jogindernagar, 65 lakh 40 lakh in Shimla Circle National Highway Zone. A loss of Rs 35 lakh has been recorded in Hajar and NH Circle Shahpur.

PWD figures are changing daily. After the reports from the field came out, the department has so far prepared the loss report. This report will be sent to the state government and then to the central government for approval.

At present, if we talk about restoration of roads, according to the data reached PWD headquarters on Saturday, 53 roads have been restored in Rampur Circle, 50 in Shimla, 48 in Dalhousie, 45 in Rohru, 16 in Kullu and 12 in Mandi Circle. Still 387 roads are blocked.

Among these, maximum 188 roads are still blocked in Kullu Circle, 60 in Dalhousie, 45 in Rampur, 38 in Mandi Circle, 34 in Rohru, 17 in Shimla and six in Jogindernagar. Meanwhile, PWD Chief Engineer Ajay Gupta said that the work of restoring the roads is going on at a fast pace. The department is doing snow removal work with new machines. Employees have also been deployed. Restoration of roads will depend on the weather. 387 roads are closed across the state till Saturday afternoon.
