Punjab: Youth offered Rs 1,000 per day for enrolment in Sehat scheme

Punjab: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has appealed to youth with laptops to help enroll beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, offering them ₹1,000 per day for their services. The minister was reviewing the ongoing scheme card issuance work in Sangrur district during a meeting with district officials. He said that youth from villages should coordinate with the district administration to participate in the enrollment drive and receive remuneration for their work. He directed officials to ensure that every eligible beneficiary is covered under the scheme and that the process is carried out in a transparent and mission-mode manner. Describing the scheme as a transformative initiative, he said that its aim is to provide quality, cashless healthcare and reduce financial burden during medical emergencies. Sources said the move came after the government faced opposition from the Computer Teachers’ Union over shifting computers from government schools to panchayats for enrollment purposes. The union objected, saying the move could disrupt computer exams.
