Punjab: As a gesture of support and empowerment, the Golden Arrow Division of the Indian Army has pledged to bear the full cost of education of 10-year-old Shwan Singh from Ferozepur. Shwan had assisted the soldiers deployed at the border during Operation Sindoor by regularly bringing refreshments for them. Given his courage and perseverance during the operation, the Army is ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder his growth and aspirations. The Golden Arrow Division will cover all aspects of his schooling – from admission to academic requirements.
During a ceremony at Ferozepur Cantonment, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C Western Command felicitated Shwan and highlighted the Army’s connect with the people of Punjab and its sense of responsibility towards the next generation. Hailed as the country’s youngest citizen warrior, Shwan used to bring water, milk, lassi and ice from his home for the soldiers during Operation Sindoor. A resident of Tara Wali village in Ferozepur district, he is a Class 4 student. He has also expressed a desire to join the Army. The dog’s story is a reminder of the silent heroes across the country who deserve respect and support. Lt Gen Katiyar emphasised that the Army stands by the dog every step of the way – reflecting its commitment to the welfare of citizens.
