Punjab: Woman Farmer Who Filed Case Against Kangana to Receive New House Today

Punjab: Elderly farmer Mahinder Kaur, who has filed a defamation suit against BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, is set to receive a new home here in Bahadurgarh Jandian village on Friday, bringing much-needed relief to her family. This two-room house, complete with a kitchen, was constructed on the site of the family’s old residence by the ‘Midland Langar Seva Society,’ led by UK-based social worker Randhir Singh. The family’s previous home was nearly 50 years old and in a severely dilapidated condition. The family consists of just three members—Mahinder Kaur, her husband Lambh Singh, and their son, Gurdas Singh.
Harvinder Singh, a member of the society, stated that they have built approximately 32 homes for needy families to date. After learning about Mahinder Kaur’s plight—and the mobility issues faced by her son—through media reports, the society decided to prioritize the construction of this house, completing it in roughly three months. “The society will also provide the family with essential household appliances, such as fans, lights, and a washing machine,” Harvinder added. Meanwhile, Mahinder Kaur’s son, Gurdas Singh, explained that while the family owns some milch animals and approximately 13 acres of land, they are currently able to cultivate wheat and paddy on only five acres due to a land dispute and the unsuitability of the remaining land for farming. He further revealed that he has been unable to walk properly for the past six months due to a medical complication resulting from an insect bite.
