Punjab: The Home Science Association (HSA) of the College of Community Science (COCS), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised a Freshmen Party to welcome the new entrants to various programmes of the college. This academic year the college witnessed commendable admissions in courses like BSc (Hons) Community Science, BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics, BSc (Fashion Designing), ‘Early Childhood Care and Education’ and ‘Interior Design and Decoration’. HSA Advisors Dr. Shivani Rana and Dr. Prachi Bisht welcomed the chief guest of the programme, Dr. Kiran Bains, Dean of the College of Community Science, with a floral wreath. In her welcome address to the new students, Dr. Bains congratulated the students who have secured admission in the college on the basis of their hard work.
She encouraged the students to follow the three mantras of discipline, respect and honesty in their lives to succeed. The programme witnessed a variety of performances by the students of the senior batch. The main attraction of the function was the modelling competition in which the freshers walked the ramp in the best attire and showcased their unique style. Nandita Jamwal was adjudged Miss Fresher, Jobanpreet Kaur won the title of 1st runner-up and Jaspreet Kaur won the title of 2nd runner-up. Simrandeep Singh won the title of Mr. Fresher. Heads of various departments of the college, faculty as well as new and old students of the college were present at the function. Dr Bains said that the event served as an ‘ice-breaking’ opportunity in which the students got an opportunity to interact with the faculty as well as students of the senior batch in an informal environment.
