Punjab: Fire broke out in two separate incidents on Sunday at a tyre showroom located on Gaushala Road and the house of a toy seller in Rajiv Nagar on Kandhwala Road in Abohar. The fire broke out at the tyre showroom located on Gaushala Road around 11 am. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control. Shopkeepers nearby saw smoke coming out of the showroom and informed the owner Sham Lal and the fire brigade. Fire brigade official Varinder Kumar said the cause of the fire and the extent of damage would be ascertained later.
A fire broke out at a house in Rajiv Nagar at around 6 am on Sunday. Fortunately, no one was at home at that time as the woman living there had gone to sell toys, which is her only source of livelihood. The fire caused the roof of the house to collapse and a lot of household items were burnt. The neighbours informed the woman’s parents, who live in another colony, and also called the fire brigade. The fire brigade team immediately reached the spot and doused the fire. Despite their efforts, the roof collapsed and a huge amount of property was damaged. The affected family has appealed to the government for help.
