Punjab: Two couples arrested with heroin

Punjab: Hours after a couple was arrested with 50 grams of heroin and drug money in Hindumalkot area, police arrested another couple and seized 61 grams of heroin from them. A team led by Sub Inspector Girdhari Singh arrested two suspects, identified as Sonu Singh (22) of Kotha Pakki village and Balwinder Kaur (40) of Dhani Latkan in Abohar. The couple was travelling in a car with Delhi registration number near Chak 6-A village when the heroin was seized. During interrogation, Sonu admitted to being a heroin addict and that he was in a live-in relationship with Balwinder Kaur for two years. He confessed to selling heroin to cover his addiction and his living expenses, police said. Sonu further revealed that he had arranged heroin from two persons, Vicky of Sherkhan village and Heera of Basti Alikhan, Ferozepur, five to six times in the last 18 months. He claimed that he had bought 80 grams of heroin from Vicky five days ago and was selling it with Balwinder Kaur by his side. Balwinder Kaur also confirmed that she was living in a live-in relationship with Sonu for two years. Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against both the persons. Earlier, a police team had arrested another couple, Balwinder Singh (39) and his wife Kishan Kaur (36), from Chak 4-B village. Police seized 50 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 10,270 from the couple while they were travelling on a motorcycle. During their interrogation, it was revealed that Sonu and Balwinder Kaur were also involved in selling heroin, which led to the formation of a special police team to nab them. Police are continuing to investigate the drug network.
