Punjab: Three snatchers arrested, mobile phones recovered

Punjab: Police have arrested three suspects who snatched a local resident’s mobile phone five days ago. Two suspects – Jai Pal Singh (20) and Gurjant Singh (20) were arrested on Sunday, while their third accomplice Sukhraj Singh (18) was nabbed on Monday. Jai Pal and Gurjant work in a factory in Bal Kalan village, while Sukhraj works in a saloon. According to police, all three were drug addicts who used to commit snatching to buy drugs. Police have recovered the mobile phone and motorcycle used in the crime. Giving details, Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Maninderpal Singh said that complainant Harmeet Singh, a resident of Gilwali Gate area, was going from Novelty Chowk to Crystal Chowk on September 10 when three bike-borne men snatched his mobile phone. A case has been registered in this regard at Civil Lines police station. The ACP said that after investigation and scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed at various intersections and roads, the police have identified and arrested the accused. They were produced in court and sent to police custody for further investigation. He said that after interrogating the accused, more such cases are likely to be solved.
