Punjab: Three men from different states were caught with 125 kg of poppy husk. Rajasthan police said they stopped two luxury vehicles for checking on National Highway 62, seized the drugs and arrested the suspects. A team led by sub-inspector Rattan Lal of Dudhwa Khara police station had set up a blockade on the highway near the toll plaza with the help of district special squad (DST). The sub-inspector said the police team attempted to stop the two SUVs, but both the drivers broke the blockade and tried to escape.
The vehicles were stopped at the next check post, he said. They searched the vehicle and a total of 125 kg of poppy husk was seized from both the vehicles, police said. He said that the people travelling in these vehicles have been identified as Vijayinder Singh (34) of Palli village in Samba district of Jammu, Harpreet Singh (44) of Sobhan Mazra, Nalagarh in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh and Amar Pal (33) of Taruwala, Chhachhrauli in Haryana. Police said that the cost of the seized poppy is around Rs 19 lakh. He said that both the vehicles have also been seized. Police officials said that initial interrogation revealed that the suspects were going to Nalagarh after arranging poppy husk from a place near Jodhpur. Police said that a case has been registered against the suspects under the NDPS Act and all of them are being questioned to find out the source of the drug.
