Punjab: Record 72 eye surgeries performed

Punjab: An NGO, United Sikh Mission, USA, organised a free eye check-up and operation camp at Rupalheri village in the district. A team of doctors led by Dr Sai Deep of Sirhind’s Sai Kripa Eye and Children Hospital examined over 200 patients and advised surgery to 72 of them. All the eye operations were done free of cost. Eye surgeon Dr Saideep Dhand performed a record 72 eye operations in 5 hours 20 minutes. Dr Dhand of Sai Kripa Eye and Children Hospital claimed that he broke the previous record by performing a surgery in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Balbir Singh, executive member of the NGO, said it was a matter of pride that a young surgeon successfully performed the surgery in record time.
