Punjab: Railways collected a fine of Rs 2.56 crore from passengers travelling without ticket from all railway stations falling under Ferozepur Division in the month of October. Out of Rs 2.56 crore, Rs 31 lakh was earned from passengers travelling without ticket at Amritsar Railway Station. Ticket checking teams of Ferozepur Division conducted intensive ticket checking in trains to curb ticketless and irregular travel to provide comfortable travel and better services to all genuine rail users.
During ticket checking in trains in the month of October, a total of 29,775 passengers were found travelling without ticket by the ticket checking staff and chief ticket inspectors of the division and a total fine of Rs 2.56 crore was earned from them. Regular checking is done at the main stations of the division to keep the railway stations falling under the division clean and to prevent the general public from littering at the stations and to make them aware about cleanliness. As a result, a fine of more than Rs 1 lakh was collected from 567 passengers who littered the station premises in the month of October.
