Punjab: Policemen asked to speed up disposal of pending cases

Punjab: Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh has asked policemen to settle pending cases within the stipulated time frame. He directed senior officers to keep a close watch on the progress of all cases falling under their jurisdiction in Malerkotla, Amargarh and Ahmedgarh. SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said that a comprehensive and intensive exercise was carried out to review the progress of cases registered in several police stations of the district and the concerned personnel were advised to expedite the process for final settlement. “After reviewing almost all pending cases by organizing camps at subdivision level, we have advised all investigating officers to put in their best efforts to expedite the process, so that justice is not delayed,” the SSP said.

He said policemen have been sensitized to understand the relevance of the principle ‘justice delayed is justice denied’. The SSP stressed the need to maintain a balance between various aspects of modern policing, which requires all policemen to remain committed to performing their duty ‘all the time everywhere’ besides taking care of their families. The SSP said that they are supporting all the campaigns launched to eliminate social evils including drug abuse, molestation and abuse on social media. The SSP said that strict action has been warned against those who show any kind of negligence.
