Punjab: Police here have arrested three persons in connection with the death of a 31-year-old man. His body was found under suspicious circumstances on the road near Jammu Basti on Friday. His family has alleged that there were serious injury marks on his body. The deceased has been identified as Maninder Singh Sonu. Police said the cause of death will be known only after receiving the post-mortem report, which may take a few weeks. A case has been registered against four persons under sections 103, 61 (2), 238 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) on the statement of Dharam Nagri resident Bhupinder Singh, a retired bank employee.
The complainant said that his son Sonu, who was working as a pharmacist in a private hospital in Mohali, had come into the company of drug addicts but later distanced himself from them. The family further claimed that Sonu had recently planned to leave his job in Mohali and take up a job in a hospital in Bathinda. He had come to Abohar five days ago to plan to go to Bathinda. “He left home on his motorcycle at 2pm on Thursday. He said he was going for some work and would return by evening, but he did not return,” a family member said. Following an investigation, the City-1 police arrested three persons — Amandeep Singh Suraj of Dharm Nagri, Chanchal Singh of Baba Jivan Singh Nagar and Simranjit Singh Gurri of Baba Deep Singh Nagar in Abohar. The fourth suspect, Harmel Singh (alias Happy Doctor), was not found at his home, police said.
