Punjab: Rainfall is likely to continue in the state today due to a western disturbance over northwest India. The weather department has also predicted a fresh western disturbance, which may lead to light rain and snowfall in the region on January 1 and 2.
The bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that widespread rain/snowfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to continue over the western Himalayan region tomorrow. Dense fog and cold wave conditions are also forecast till December 31.
In the last 24 hours, light rain accompanied with thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Punjab, with areas around Nangal, Barnala, Moga, Faridkot, Jalandhar and Patiala receiving up to 4 mm of rain. The state has been 52% deficient in rainfall this month so far.
