Punjab: Minister and business leaders discuss strategies to boost industry

Punjab: Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Promotion Tarunpreet Singh Sond today met various industry stalwarts and discussed strategies to put the products manufactured in the state on the global map. Taking feedback from the entrepreneurs, the minister said the state government was working hard to resolve the problems of the industries. “In order to ensure industrial progress in Punjab, various federations, chambers, entrepreneurs and industrialists are being personally interacted with and their views are being taken,” he said.

The minister said Punjab can progress only if its industrial sector grows. “The state manufactures several products which have the potential to be recognised and appreciated globally,” the minister said. He said Punjab’s phulkari, jutti, cycle industry and multifaceted cuisine, if marketed properly, could boost trade internationally. He said the state government was ready to extend all possible assistance to industrialists in the development of trade and commerce sector. The industrialists stressed on formulating a comprehensive policy to promote local trade and industry so that they could gain fame at the national and international level.
