Punjab: Industrial group issues helpline number against alleged harassment

Punjab: So far we have seen government departments or administration issuing helpline numbers to help people. This is perhaps for the first time that an industrial group has issued helpline numbers for fellow industrialists and businessmen across Punjab. Prominent sports industrialist Ravinder Dhir has been alleging that he is facing harassment from various departments and is finding it difficult to work properly. In a meeting today, Dhir decided to issue the helpline numbers. He said, “If any of our members are harassed by any employee or officer of any department, they can immediately contact the helpline number and immediate action will be taken.”

Dhir said that for the last three years, traders and businessmen in the state are facing such problems which did not happen in the last 50 years. He said, “The state government should also understand that ‘if there is business, there is government’.” Helpline numbers of about 10 traders/industrialists were issued who will come forward to help. About a year ago, when a team of the GST department inspected a sports shop in Basti Nine area, some fellow traders and industrialists gathered at the spot and staged a sit-in outside the unit during the inspection. Speaking to the Tribune, Ravinder Dhir said, “If we get a call on the numbers, we will reach the spot and ensure there is no heckling with them.” He said this is the time to show unity.
