Punjab: On the occasion of 127th anniversary of the Battle of Saragarhi, recorded in the history of military warfare as one of the most daring feats of valor, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur inaugurated the “Saragarhi War Memorial” at Ferozepur today. “This memorial is a testimony to the indomitable bravery of 21 Sikh soldiers of 36 Sikh Regiment who displayed exemplary courage while fighting against more than 10,000 Pathans,” the Minister said. She said the memorial has been built at a cost of Rs 2 crore and the AAP government will leave no stone unturned to connect people with this glorious heritage. “It is a matter of great pride that the soldiers were awarded the ‘Indian Order of Merit’ i.e. Victoria Cross,” the Minister said. She said the all-round development of the historical sites will boost tourism in the state.
