Punjab: Health department team seals 9 thousand liters of ‘adulterated’ ghee in an industrial unit

Punjab: A team of the Health Department today sealed 9,000 litres of adulterated ghee and destroyed 245 litres of non-edible oil at a unit in the RIICO industrial area of ​​​​Sriganganagar. Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO) Ajay Singla said that the department received information today that fake desi ghee was being prepared by mixing palm oil, refined and essence in an industrial unit. The state and district level team jointly raided the food product unit in Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO) area. Some workers fled from the spot on seeing the team. Later, on receiving information, the factory owner reached the spot and submitted the necessary documents.
The team conducted a thorough inspection and recovered vegetable ghee, palm oil and essence allegedly used in making desi ghee. The raiding team included State Food Safety Officers Vinod Sharma, Amit Sharma and Devendra Jadoun along with District Food Safety Officers Kanwarpal Singh and Hansraj Godara. The CMHO appealed to the general public to inform them about those who adulterate food items. If the complaint is found to be true and the food items are found to be unsafe, the department will reward the complainant with Rs 51,000 in two installments. The name and identity of the person giving the information will be kept secret. The official said that the information of those traders whose food items are found to be substandard, misbranded or unsafe will be made public.
