Punjab: Police have arrested four wanted suspects in the case of beating a youth to death and throwing the body into the Gang Canal on the night of October 12 near Panjawa Village, 27 km from here. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said that Angrez Singh, Sona Singh, Gurmej Singh Geju and Makhan Singh have been arrested in this case. Based on the report of Raju, a resident of Pakki village, a murder case was registered on October 13 against seven people, some of whom have been identified as Sukhdev Singh, Angrez Singh and Chhinda Singh. These people are accused of killing his brother Gurpreet Singh. Raju told that on the night of Dussehra, Rinku of Pakki village came to his house and called his brother to get the motorcycle repaired which had broken down on the Panjawa canal bridge. Gurpreet had gone with Rinku carrying a tool kit, but he could not fix the bike. Meanwhile, Gurpreet Singh (son of Mangal Singh), Gurwinder Singh and Raju also reached there. Rinku reportedly said that his girlfriend’s house is located in a cluster of houses near the bridge and everyone should go there to give her the mobile phone. According to Raju, when Rinku contacted his girlfriend over the phone, she asked him to come near the cluster of houses from where she would collect the phone. When all of them reached the specific area with Rinku, the girl’s family came to know about it. Raju said that the girl’s father Sukhdev Singh, relatives Angrez Singh, Chhinda Singh and others, who had come to pluck cotton, started beating the youths with sticks and iron rods. While the other youths managed to escape, mechanic Gurpreet could not escape. He was beaten to death. The suspects then dumped the body in the canal. It was found the next day.
