Punjab: Five people including two women have been arrested for abetting suicide. Last month, Mohit, a Class 12 student, was found dead on the railway track. The family of the deceased had staged a protest at the bypass chowk of Alamgarh village demanding the arrest of the suspects who forced their child to take the extreme step. ASI Lakhwinder Singh of Sadar police station said that Guddu, Amardeep, Pradeep and two women named Mohini and Prema have been arrested in the case.

He said that a case has been registered against the suspects under sections 108, 115(2) and 351(2) of the IPC at Sadar police station on the statement of the deceased’s brother Sanjay. The complainant told the police that on the night of August 26, his brother Mohit had gone out with some youths of Alamgarh village but did not return.
