Punjab: A clash broke out between two groups of youths at Government Rajindra College this morning, resulting in gunfire inside the campus. The incident occurred while a youth festival was underway and a large number of students were present. Sources stated that the clash stemmed from an old dispute between the two groups. During the clash, a youth from one group opened fire on a member of the opposing group, causing panic among the students. However, no one was injured in the incident. Police immediately arrived at the scene and arrested the shooter and confiscated his weapon.
According to reports, the accused used a .32-bore pistol to fire shots in the air during the altercation. Hearing the gunfire, panic gripped the students, and students ran for their lives. Bathinda police teams, led by Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh, arrived at the scene and assessed the situation. The Superintendent confirmed that no injuries were reported. Several young men have been detained, and police are investigating whether the accused were college students or outsiders. They are also investigating whether the pistol was licensed. Following the incident, the college administration suspended the event to ensure the safety of students. Police have seized CCTV footage and launched an investigation into the incident.
