Punjab: Farmers led by ex-MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra protest at Sirhind Mandi Board office against stoppage of paddy procurement by commission agents. Commission agents stopped paddy procurement after commission agents’ state president Vijay Kalra was allegedly ‘humiliated’ by Makhu police. Agitated farmers started gathering in front of the Mandi Board office at Sirhind grain market. Ex-MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra also joined them and they shut down Sirhind Market Committee office and staged a dharna. They also raised slogans. Commission agents assured the officials that they will resume procurement tomorrow.
