Punjab: Eight mothers grateful for their children on Diwali

Punjab: A total of eight women in the area were blessed with children on Diwali night, making their families feel that Goddess Lakshmi has arrived. In many households, the birth of a girl on Diwali is considered auspicious, symbolising prosperity and happiness. A total of five babies were born in the maternity ward of Abohar Subdivision Hospital; one girl was born at VK Hospital and two at Nagpal Nursing Home. Sunita of Rajpura Village happily welcomed her first child. Aarti of Kala Tibba village celebrated the arrival of her third daughter and Jaswinder Kaur of Ghalu and Ramandeep of Khuiyan Sarwar also welcomed daughters. The families said the birth of a girl on Diwali is a divine blessing. Many believe that children born on Diwali are lucky, blessed by Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Sarhad Welfare Society is organising Kanya Lohri Mahotsav in Fazilka to honour families who welcomed girls ahead of Lohri.
