Punjab: Congress leaders protested against Shah

Punjab: District Congress leaders on Friday protested against Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his alleged remarks against Dr BR Ambedkar at Ambedkar Chowk. The leaders, who gathered under the Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan programme, registered their protest against the Centre. Addressing the gathering, District Congress Committee chief Rajinder Beri said, “Amit Shah’s remarks against the architect of the Constitution were inappropriate. The Union minister has insulted the messiah of the Dalit community. He should apologise to the country and the community for his statement. He should take responsibility and resign from the Union Cabinet.” Surinder Kaur, the party’s constituency in-charge from Jalandhar West, said, “All leaders, including councillors, MLAs, MPs or ministers, are indebted to Dr Ambedkar for his position, who drafted the Constitution and gave everyone their rights.” Ashwani Jangral, Rajesh Jindal, Deepak Sharma and other Congress leaders registered their protest by raising slogans in favour of Dr Ambedkar and the party and against Amit Shah and the BJP.
