Punjab: Case registered against two more travel agents on complaint of deported person

Punjab: Police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against two immigration agents from Kapurthala. A complaint was lodged against these agents by a man deported from the US. So far, Kapurthala police have booked four travel agents in two cases. The latest complaint was filed by Nishan Singh (20), a resident of Chakoki village, Dhilwan, Kapurthala. Those booked have been identified as Sukhjinder Singh Soni of Lakhan Ka Padde village and Lakkhi of Kishan Singh Wala village in Kapurthala.

Nishan Singh has alleged that the two had sent him to the US illegally. He said that the two had promised that he would be taken to the US directly by a flight. Instead, he was allegedly left in the jungles of Mexico, from where he would be further taken by “donkers” i.e. illegal immigration agents working abroad. The youth alleged that he wandered in the jungles for 16 days. He said that his family paid Rs 45 lakh to the travel agent instead of Rs 35 lakh for the US trip. Dhilwan police station SHO Manjeet Singh said, “A case has been registered against the agents on Nishan Singh’s complaint.”
