Punjab: Civil Hospital and Community Health Centres organised programmes under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) to check health conditions, developmental delay and disability of children in the age group of 6 to 18 years. Jyoti Hind, Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Ahmedgarh said that special teams of health workers led by dentists Anamdeep Singh and Jasdeep Singh organised camps and workshops in various schools. Appreciating the gesture shown by the local unit of Rotary Club, Dr Jyoti said that enthusiastic individuals led by Assistant Governor-Elect Surinder Pal Sofat have come forward to organise the programme to make the residents in general and parents of children below 18 years of age in particular aware about the facilities available under RBSK under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
District Nodal Officer Anamdeep Singh informed that the camps are being organised to check health conditions, developmental delay and disability of the students and to initiate further process for providing free treatment to the identified patients. Anamdeep Singh said, “After identifying children with identified health conditions, we coordinate with their parents through school authorities and convince them to get a follow-up done at the district-level hospital.” Around 40 ailments, including cleft lip, crooked eye, inverted foot and heart disease, are treated free of cost at empanelled hospitals under the scheme. Singh said students were also made aware about various aspects of oral health, general hygiene, importance of balanced diet and lifestyle changes to avoid risks.
