Punjab: A day after record seizure, another man arrested with 6 kg heroin

Punjab: A day after the record seizure of 105 kg heroin from Baba Bakala by the counter intelligence wing of Punjab Police, another drug smuggler was arrested with 6 kg of contraband. Lovepreet Singh of Chakoke village in Kapurthala was arrested from Umranangal village near Baba Bakala. He had picked up the consignment from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan. The car in which he was coming has also been seized. Earlier, the police had arrested Navjot Singh of Guru Teg Bahadur Colony in Baba Bakala and Lovepreet Kumar of Kala Sanghian in Kapurthala with the consignment. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Lovepreet Singh was to hand over the consignment to Navjot, who was arrested with 105 kg heroin on Saturday night. The DGP said that Lovepreet Kumar was pursuing IELTS from Phagwara and was lured into drug smuggling by Navpreet Singh alias Nav Bhullar, a resident of Turkey, by assuring him of settling abroad. Lovepreet’s friend Navjot, who works as a photographer, had taken a house on rent in Baba Bakala on the pretext of opening a coaching centre.
