Punjab: In a major breakthrough, Jalandhar rural police have arrested seven members of the notorious Ankush Bhaiya gang, including a police officer involved in the gang. The arrested persons have links with notorious criminals, including Vikram Brar, Goldy Brar, Rinda Baba and Ravi Balachoria. Vikram Brar and Ravi Balachoria are currently lodged in jail. One of the arrested persons is Aryan Singh, a constable from Nakodar, who was absent from duty for over a month and was found to be involved in the gang.
The other arrested members of the gang include Ankush Sabharwal alias Bhaiya, Pankaj Sabharwal alias Panku, Vishal Sabharwal alias Bhadathu, Harmanpreet Singh alias Harman, Jaskaran Singh Purewal alias Karan alias Jassa, Aryan Singh and Rupesh Kumar. Police revealed that the gang was planning a bank robbery in Jalandhar and the murder of four rival gang members. During the arrests, police seized 1,000 Alprazolam tablets, four pistols and ammunition. The operation was led by SP (Investigation) Jasroop Kaur Bath and the arrests were made after receiving a tip-off about the gang’s activities. The case has been registered under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act.
