Punjab: 5 people arrested with country-made pistol

Punjab: Police have arrested five suspects under the Arms Act, four of whom were nabbed in Sriganganagar and one in Abohar. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said Pala Ram (24), a resident of Duda Kheechhad and Mukesh alias Gabbar (24), a resident of Chak 10-SPD village, were arrested after one .32 bore country-made pistol each was recovered from them. In another action, the Kotwali police seized a country-made pistol from Mohit Thakur (25), a resident of Purani Abadi. Police also arrested Mukesh Raghav (23), a resident of Chak 9-LNP village, who is accused of bringing weapons from Madhya Pradesh and selling them in the border areas. In Abohar, police arrested Gurjeet Singh alias Jeeta, a resident of Raniwala Muktsar, after seizing two country-made pistols and eight live cartridges. A case has been registered against Jeeta under sections 25, 35 and 59 of the Arms Act at City police station in Abohar. He was produced in court and sent to police custody.
