Ludhiana: Nearly 240 enthusiastic runners gathered for the third edition of the Sahnewal Marathon, recently organized by the NLCI Institute and social activist Rashpal Singh. Chief organizer Gulshan Kumar explained that the marathon was held for the third consecutive year to raise awareness about health, skills, and education among the youth of Sahnewal town. Runners were divided into eight age-based categories: four for men and four for women.
The marathon was flagged off by child expert Shweta Goyal and Rashpal Singh. Participants received T-shirts, while winners received cash prizes and medals. Market Committee Chairman Hemraj Raji was present as the special guest. The chairman donated Rs. 33,000 for the awards ceremony and Rs. 50,000 for the development of the grounds of Government School Sahnewal, from where the event was flagged off. The Morning Group, Sahnewal, also distributed three bicycles as prizes at the event. Riya Riyal, a regular marathon participant, emerged victorious once again. They were presented with bicycles. Punjab Youth Congress General Secretary Lucky Sandhu also presented cash prizes to the winners on his behalf.
