Punjab: 100 acres of wheat crop damaged due to canal breakage

Punjab: A 20-foot crack in the Mulianwali sub-canal near Fazilka has damaged the wheat crop sown on 100 acres of land of farmers of Banwala village. Sukhjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Karamjit Singh, Sardul Singh and other farmers said that they had to spend thousands of rupees on fertilizers and other resources to sow their crops. They said that it would be difficult for them to sow wheat again for the next several days. This would also affect their yield. The farmers said that it would be impossible for them to arrange DAP fertilizer again and sow their crop again. They demanded compensation for their losses from the state government. The farmers also said that they are trying to repair the crack on their own as they have not received any help from the government.
