Pune: A crocodile was spotted at the Varasgaon Dam in Pune district of Maharashtra and was rescued and released at a distant place, an official said on Wednesday. “Late on Tuesday night, when security personnel went to measure the water level, they spotted a crocodile at the spillway of the Varasgaon dam,” reservoir engineer Viresh Raut said. The crocodile came in the light of their torch, the official said. Raut said, “The security personnel immediately informed us. We reached the spot and called the forest officials.” He said a rescue team of the forest department reached the spot at around 11.30 pm and caught the crocodile and released it at a distant place.
