Public demanding accounts: Controversy over the treatment of backward classes and Dalits during the previous tenure.

Meerut. The political chessboard for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027 has already started being laid. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state has made the sharpest and most direct attack so far on the biggest and most talked about election formula ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority) of the Samajwadi Party (SP). BJP’s newly appointed OBC (OBC) and Scheduled Caste (SC) front state presidents have openly challenged SP chief Akhilesh Yadav during an organizational meeting held in Meerut. BJP leaders have termed SP’s PDA slogan as just a political gimmick and a new branding of the party which has become infamous for misleading the public. While addressing the strategic meeting, BJP leaders asked sharp questions to SP national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He said that today Akhilesh Yadav is talking big about the rights of backward classes and Dalits, but he should first give an account to the people of Uttar Pradesh as to how his government had treated these sections during its four different tenures of SP. BJP alleged that SP has always had a history of suppressing and exploiting the rights of backward people and Dalits. Keeping SP’s old track record in front of the public, BJP leaders gave the example of the year 2012. He said that in 2012, when a government with full majority was formed in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, in his first cabinet, only a special class (Yadavs) was given preference in the name of backward people. At that time, people from other extremely backward and backward communities like Jat, Gurjar, Pal, Saini, Kashyap, Prajapati and Maurya community leaders were not given any attention or place in the cabinet. According to BJP, during the SP rule only one particular caste developed and the rest of the backward classes were marginalized. Apart from this, BJP cornered SP by raising the issue of job rigging and corruption. The leaders alleged that whenever there were recruitments for government jobs during the SP government, jobs were distributed only to the youth of Saifai clan and a particular class, ignoring the merit, due to which the rights of meritorious students of Dalits and other backward classes were violated. Besides, SP was also seriously accused of insulting great men of Dalit community like Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Honorable Kanshi Ram and changing the names of schemes and districts named after them. During this organizational meeting, senior party officials gave a grand welcome to BJP OBC Morcha State President Prakash Pal and Scheduled Caste Morcha State President Ashok Rawat by giving them flowers, garlands and mementos. From the stage, both the Morcha presidents infused new enthusiasm among the workers and claimed that Dalits and backward classes will no longer fall under the influence of SP. They know that their real development and respect is safe only under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. At the end of the meeting, BJP leaders roared and claimed that this time all the casteist and false slogans of the opposition will be completely destroyed. BJP’s OBC and Scheduled Caste Morcha will together go to the grassroots level and expose these dark deeds of SP among the public. The leaders said with full confidence that in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP is once again going to form a government with a strong majority with the support of the entire society, and the ‘PDA’ balloon of the opposition will be completely deflated.
