Business: According to data collected from the Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps of Maharashtra, real estate registrations in Mumbai city rose 12.11 per cent to 11,569 in June as against 10,319 a year ago. Stamp duty collection for June 2024 has increased 16.65 per cent to Rs 1,001.5 crore as compared to Rs 858.5 crore in the same month last year. According to Maharashtra government data, stamp collection in May 2024 was Rs 1,034.2 crore. Mumbai’s real estate market saw a total of 12,000 property registrations in May. According to regional estimates, 80 per cent of the total properties registered per month in Mumbai were residential units. This surge can be attributed to rising economic prosperity and favourable sentiment towards home ownership.” Property registrations in Mumbai saw a year-on-year increase in June, but the average recorded registrations of 12,044 units in the first six months were higher than the twelve-month average of 10,578 units in the first six months of 2023.
