Professor, 3 Students Booked for Ragging, Sexual Assault After Girl’s Death in Dharamsala

Dharamsala: A case has been registered against a college professor and three other students in the death of a 19-year-old student studying at a government degree college in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. The deceased student has been accused of ragging and sexual harassment. A case has been registered under sections 75, 115(2), 3(5) of the BNS. A case has been registered against Professor Ashok Kumar and three girls under section 3 of the Himachal Pradesh Raging Act. The three girls have been identified as Harshita, Aakriti and Komolika.

The victim’s father, Vikram Kumar, filed a complaint at the local police station. His daughter, a second-year student at Pallavi Degree College, was attacked by three girls on September 18 and the professor misbehaved with her, he said. He said that his daughter was mentally disturbed due to the harassment and intimidation, which led to her health deteriorating. She was taken to a Ludhiana hospital for treatment. She died on December 26.
