Prime Minister will inaugurate the 17 km long section of the second phase of RRTS

Ghaziabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second phase of the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on Wednesday. The PM will flag off the train at 10:30 am through video conferencing from Kolkata. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Ghaziabad MP General V.K. at Muradnagar Rapid Rail Station in Ghaziabad. All NCRTC officials including Singh and Meerut MP Rajendra Aggarwal will be present.
With this, beyond the priority section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, an additional 17 km long section from Duhai to Modinagar North will be ready for operation of Namo Bharat trains. There are three stations in this section: Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South and Modi Nagar North. With the inauguration of this section, Namo Bharat services will be available seamlessly on a 34 km section on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor with a total of eight stations from Sahibabad to Modinagar North.
The foundation stone of India’s first RRTS corridor connecting Delhi to Meerut was laid by the Prime Minister in March 2019. Its 17 km long priority section was flagged off for passenger operations by the Prime Minister in October 2023. In line with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, RRTS stations are being seamlessly integrated with airports, railway stations, metro stations, ISBTs and city bus stops, creating a network of interconnected public transport systems. Namo Bharat trains on RRTS have a design speed of 180 kmph and an operating speed of 160 kmph.
