Previous governments are responsible for the rising drug addiction: CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today attacked the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Congress over the growing drug addiction among the youth. He said there were only 1,000 drug addicts in the state in 2009 during the tenure of the SAD-BJP government and by 2015 their number had increased to 20 lakh.

Mann said former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had asked the then Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to control his brother-in-law or else he would finish him politically. He said Sukhbir was now appealing to the people to give him a chance as the SAD was divided into factions.

Mann said Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa was using “abusive words” against him and his party leaders, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhpal Singh Khaira, had recently come out in support of a jailed senior leader.
