Preparations underway to make Odisha the development power of Eastern India

Odisha: Addressing the Odisha Investors Meet roadshow held in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke at length about the state’s industrial potential and future development plans. He stated that Odisha is poised to provide new energy to the eastern part of India, providing scale, speed, and strategic access to the country’s next economic expansion phase.

The Chief Minister stated that Odisha not only offers opportunities for industries, but also offers long-term, sustainable and competitive advantages. He emphasized that the next phase of India’s economic expansion will be more balanced and robust with the rise of Eastern India, with Odisha playing a central role.

In his address, Majhi stated that the state government is creating an industrial environment that will meet future needs. He invited industry, saying, “We are here with a clear message that Odisha is ready for the next chapter of India’s industrial development. We invite industries to join us, invest, and grow.”

The roadshow saw participation from over 500 industry representatives, trade associations, and institutional stakeholders. During the event, detailed discussions were held on investment prospects, policy support, and facilitation arrangements. Two sectoral roundtables were also held, focusing on the textile sector. Through one-on-one interactions with industry experts, detailed discussions were held on investment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also chaired 26 one-on-one meetings on this occasion, holding one-on-one discussions with investors and representatives from various sectors. These meetings focused on industrial development, investment plans, and state policies.

With a special focus on the textile sector, the Chief Minister highlighted the cultural and economic ties between Odisha and Gujarat. He stated that the two states share deep civilizational ties, from the land of Lord Jagannath in Puri to Dwarka in Gujarat.

He further stated that Gujarat has long been a leader in the textile sector, while Odisha is now rapidly emerging with a strong supportive ecosystem, skilled workforce, and a policy-driven development model.

The Chief Minister’s visit is considered an important step towards attracting investment and accelerating industrial development in the state. Through the programme, Odisha presented itself as an emerging industrial hub of eastern India.
