Business Business: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met the heads of provinces and aimed to simplify the approval process for mining and energy projects. Currently, it can take ten years or more to get approval for a mine or pipeline. According to Carney, reducing this process to two years will boost the country’s economic growth and help reduce the impact of tariffs imposed by the US.
Carney said that the central government will declare some projects in national interest, so that they can be completed faster. He has sought a list of potential projects from the provinces. However, some provinces and tribal groups also have objections.
