Residing at Dilshad Colony, Delhi, aged plus 78 years of age, professionally an Inspection Engineer, who has retired as Manager from M/s MECON Limited, Ranchi, in year 2000, who has also been pursuing this hobby since his school days i.e. from class 5, now is a proud owner of collection of more than 50,000 stamps of 237 different countries (Including Kingdoms and Islands) & including India, kept with different themes also. This was motivated by a class teacher (Dr. Motilal Jotwani, later on he became the recipient of Padma Shri Award also)The collection has been widely displayed from time to time at various places such as Ranchi/ Panipat/ Delhi/ Ghaziabad/Karnal/Yamunanagar/Bhatinda/ Mumbai/ Faridabad/ Asansol/ Kolkata/ Durgapur/ Burnpur/Vishakhapatnam/Damanjori/ Bolani/ Mathura/ Haldia/ Gurgaon/Meerut/ Ludhiana, Bharatpur/Bhiwadi/Alwar/Baddi/ Greater Noida/ Ballabhgarh/ Palwal/ Ankleshwar/ Bharuch etc. and appreciated by the on lookers and groups of visitors. This display and news has been covered by various news papers such as Amar Ujala/ Dainik Bhaskar/ Pratidin, Daink Jagaran, Prabhat Khabar, Hint, Jasarat Times, Azad Hind, Hindustan, Pioneer etc. Different TV channels including Door Darshan have also covered my this hobby and display.
The stamps collection has been kept with different themes such as Freedom fighters, leaders, presidents, prime ministers, flowers, railways, boats, ships, tele-communication/ costumes, transportation means, sun, moon, masks, aero planes, space crafts, brides, monuments, colleges, poets, statues, sculptures, dances, birds, animals, cats, butterfly, ships, dams, flags, sports, Olympics, bikes, motor cars, dogs, horses, temples, church, mosques, gurudwara, forts , fruits & vegetables and country wise etc.
Along with stamps, postal stationery such as postal celebrations for First day covers and other memorable material, newspaper cuttings related to stamps and coins has also been preserved, collected. This hobby is now helping us to teach and interact with young children for whom the Post Office Phenomenon is an old story and of an antique value. As at present courier boys, Internet, E-Mail, Speed post and SMS terms/ messenger facilities are very frequently used in day today routine in place of postal services as the post office jobs have been mostly taken over by courier services and mobile app technology. It is
so because they provide the desk to desk/ home delivery or instant services. While intra acting with young school children we are surprised to note that they have not seen postal stationary i.e. Post card/Inland letter/ Aerogramme/ Envelopes/First day covers/ Miniature sheets etc.
Undersigned has been taking pains to display stamps of different themes such as Traffic rules/ Road Safety rules/ Tree plantation/ Tree protection/ Save electricity/ Save water/ Water conservation/ Woman empowerment/ Breast feeding/ Sports and games/ Paintings/ Environment protection/ Corona ko bhagao/ Beti bachao beti padhao/ Swachh Bharat/ Personal hygiene/ Wash your hands before meals and regularly/Sakshar Bharat / Corona awareness etc. This has been widely appreciated in public for social awareness as audio visual is a considered as a very strong communication skill.
