Popular Tamil folk singer Ramani Ammal passed away at the age of 69

Chennai (IANS)| Popular Tamil folk singer Ramani Ammal passed away in Chennai on Tuesday due to a heart attack. Ammal (69) became popular for her high-voltage performances in stage shows. She was known as ‘Rockstar Ramani Ammal’. She became popular in the Tamil entertainment industry in 2017 through Zee TV’s reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors’.

Ammal made her debut as a singer in the 2004 romantic film ‘Kadhal’, followed by a few other films such as ‘Kathayavaran’ (2008), ‘Thenvattu’ (2008) and ‘Haridas’ (2013).

After the stupendous success of the reality TV show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors’ in the year 2017, Ammal has not looked back.

He sang for ‘Jangaa’ (2018), ‘Sandakozhi 2’ (2018), ‘Kaapan’ (2019) and ‘Nenjamundu Narmayundu Odu Raja’ (2019).

He also did stage shows in America, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

He also did a small role in the Tamil serial ‘Yaradi Nee Mohini’.
