Puri: Puri Police has released all nine Bangladeshi nationals, including five who entered the Sri Jagannath temple on March 3.
Five foreigners, only one of whom was a Hindu, were caught by the servants inside the Srimandir and handed over to the Singhdwar police. After seizing his passport and other travel documents, the police detained him in a hotel and asked him not to leave Puri until the investigation into the case was completed.
On Thursday, Puri SP Pinak Mishra said, “We had contacted the Bangladesh High Commission and sought information about him to verify if he had any criminal history. We released him after the Bangladesh High Commission gave him a clean chit. They have all left Puri.”
Mishra further said that there is a need to put up display boards near all the four gates of the temple, clearly mentioning the ban on entry of non-Hindus into the temple.
The five Bangladeshis reportedly had darshan of the Trimurti inside the sanctum sanctorum and also bought Mahaprasad from Anand Bazaar.
