Police raided the village on information of illegal trade, villagers arrested during siege

Raigarh. There are strong security arrangements in the three-tier Gram Panchayat elections in the district, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, additional police teams in the village are keeping an eye on all activities through continuous patrolling and informers.
In the same sequence, Gharghoda police has arrested an accused selling illegal Mahua liquor in village Amlidih on the basis of informer information. Police station in-charge Ramkinkar Yadav received information from the informer that Sunil Kumar Panda is illegally trading Mahua liquor in large quantities in village Amlidih. Taking immediate action on the information, a police team led by head constable Arvind Patnaik was sent for raid.
The police team reached the spot and saw that a person was selling liquor to some people by keeping it in a jarkin. On seeing the police, the buyers ran away, but the police surrounded and caught the accused. During interrogation, the accused told his name as Sunil Kumar Panda (43 years), resident of village Amlidih, Brahmin Mohalla, police station Gharghoda, district Raigarh.
A total of 107 liters of Mahua liquor filled in seven jars was recovered from the possession of the accused, whose estimated value is Rs 16,050. Also, Rs 300 cash was also seized from the spot. In this case, a case has been registered in Police Station Gharghodha under Crime No. 45/2025 under Section 34 (2) and 34 (b) of the Excise Act.
