Police patrol Thirot village, heightened surveillance after Lalita’s case

Meerut: In view of the heightened tension following the murder of BA student Lalita Gautam, the administration has tightened security. A heavy police force has been deployed in the victim’s village, Thirot, to maintain law and order. All major roads into the village have been barricaded, and entry to outsiders has been restricted, citing security reasons.
This move by the administration follows a violent protest and mahapanchayat outside the Meerut Collectorate and Commissionerate on Wednesday. Police fear that some outsiders or anti-social elements may attempt to disrupt the village’s atmosphere and spread rumors. Keeping this in mind, additional police force has been deployed in the village.
According to police officials, every person entering and leaving Thirot village is being monitored. Police personnel have been deployed at the village’s entry points, and suspicious activities are being monitored. The administration has made it clear that the peace and order of the area will not be disturbed at any cost.
Officials say that the sudden arrival of any political organization, outside group, or other individuals could escalate the situation. Therefore, this step has been taken as a precautionary measure. Senior police and administration officials are constantly monitoring the situation in the village.
Student’s body found in sugarcane field
It is worth noting that Lalita Gautam, a BA student from the Rohta area, went missing and her body was recovered from a sugarcane field. The incident sparked outrage in the area. Police have taken action in the case and arrested the main accused, Ankush, and others accused of destroying evidence and sent them to jail.
Legal action is being taken against the accused based on the police’s preliminary investigation. Meanwhile, the deceased’s family and local residents say that other individuals may also be involved in the murder, against whom action has not yet been taken.
Security increased after protest
A protest was held at the Meerut Collectorate on Wednesday demanding justice for Lalita Gautam and the arrest of other accused. A large number of people gathered during the protest. When the situation escalated, police had to use force to control the crowd.
Protesters are demanding an impartial investigation and strict action against anyone else involved. The family continues to demand justice.
At present, the administration’s priority is maintaining peace in the village and preventing any untoward incidents. Police have been deployed and local residents are being appealed to maintain peace. Officials say the investigation is being conducted impartially and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
