Raigarh. Raigarh. On the instructions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, police investigation proceedings are going on at the campaign level to curb road accidents. Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, police action is going on against passenger transport on goods carrying vehicles under all police station areas, in this series, yesterday speed bikers and drunk drivers were checked with breath analyzer and action was taken. In the city, City Superintendent of Police Akash Shukla and Traffic DSP Ramesh Chandra along with police stations and traffic police conducted vehicle checking at different places till late evening.
During the action, 34 two-wheeler / heavy vehicle drivers came under the radar of police investigation, out of which 14 persons were found to be consuming alcohol on breath analyzer test, against whom an FIR has been prepared under Section 185 Motor Vehicle Act (MV Act) and 18 other drivers were challaned under various sections of MV Act and summon fee of ₹ 65,000 was recovered. Police vehicle checking operations will continue regularly. It is known that as per the amended Motor Vehicle Act, the fine for drunk driving has been increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000.
