Haldwani. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Nainital Police has intensified the checking campaign. During checking, the police seized consignments of smack, liquor and intoxicating injections from various places and arrested the accused. According to the police, the campaign will continue in future also.
On Thursday night, Nainital Police conducted an intensive checking campaign in Kotwali Haldwani, Mukhani, Banbhulpura, Mukteshwar and Kaladhungi police station areas. Banbhulpura police caught Qureshi alias Kubda, resident of Indranagar Thokar, with 10.71 grams of smack. Apart from two cases under the NDPS Act, Kubra has also been named in POCSO charges. Police said that action has also been taken against him under the Goonda Act.
During checking, the police arrested Suraj, resident of Devalchod Kham, with 58 paves of country liquor and Mohit Kashyap, resident of Rajpura Ward 13, with 96 paves of country liquor. Mukhani police also caught illegal liquor with the accused. Police arrested Bakshish Singh, resident of Bazpur, with 261 pouches of raw liquor and 68 liters of kham. He was carrying liquor on his motorcycle.
Kotwal Umesh Malik seized 62 pavs of country liquor from Ramesh Kashyap, resident of Ward 12, Street 3 and arrested the accused. Mandi Chowki police arrested Sonu Singh, resident of street number 3, with 24 bottles of English liquor and Azam, resident of Bareilly Road, with 50 intoxicating injections. Mukteshwar police raided a two-storey restaurant located in Bhateliya market. Lalit Singh Bisht, resident of Sunkiya, was caught while serving liquor here. Kaladhungi police caught Avtar Singh, resident of Bailpokhara, with 10 liters of raw liquor. Police have registered a case against two accused under the NDPS Act and against seven accused under the Excise Act.
