Bengaluru (IANS) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a massive public meeting at Channapatna in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district on April 30 ahead of the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka, a BJP leader said on Saturday. A party leader said the BJP is aiming to win more seats in parts of the state where it does not have a strong stronghold.
Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Janata Dal-Secular leader H.D. Kumaraswamy is contesting from Channapatna constituency. BJP has fielded former minister CP Yogeshwar from this seat. Political analysts believe that there will be a direct fight between JD-S and BJP in this constituency.
Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy is contesting from the neighboring Ramanagara constituency. This area is considered a JD(S) stronghold. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned a mega rally in Channapatna.
Preparations are still going on in Shettyhalli village. According to sources, seating arrangements are being made for 2-3 lakh people. Yogeshwar said on Saturday that there would be no roadshow in Channapatna this time. He said, the program is going to last for about 2 hours. The party wants to win more seats in the old Mysuru region (South Karnataka).
