Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings in a post on ‘X’. He said, “Happy birthday to Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma. I wish you good health and strength to continue serving the people of Mizoram.”

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote in a post on ‘X’, “Heartiest birthday wishes to Chief Minister Lalduhoma. May God grant you good health and continue your dedicated service to the people of Mizoram.”

Mizoram Governor General VK Singh wrote in an X-post, “Heartiest birthday wishes to Chief Minister Lalduhoma. May you be blessed with excellent health, wisdom, and the continued strength to lead the state towards greater peace, progress, and prosperity. May the coming year be a highly successful and auspicious one for you in your dedicated service to the people of Mizoram.”

Born on February 22, 1949, Lalduhoma has been serving as the sixth Chief Minister of Mizoram since December 8, 2023. Lalduhoma is also the founder and president of the Zoram Nationalist Party, a regional political party in Mizoram.

He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram in 1984. When he left the Congress, he was disqualified from Parliament, becoming the first MP to be removed under the anti-defection law in India. He was chosen as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the first time in the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections.

In 2020, he was disqualified as a member of the Legislative Assembly under the anti-defection law, the first such case in Indian state legislatures. His party won the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections by a landslide, and he became Chief Minister. (Input: IANS)
